iScan VP software releases
The software on the iScan VP50PRO, VP50, VP30 and VP20 can be updated using a PC with a serial port or a USB port (with a USB-to-Serial adapter). We recommend a serial port terminal program called Tera Term Pro (Version 2.3) that we provide for download here.
PLEASE READ THIS FIRST BEFORE DOWNLOADING SOFTWARE!!!! We have found problems with the newest FTDI USB-to-serial driver (1.0.2176.0). If you have this driver and use it to install any .abt file, you will not be able to complete the installation and your iScan will be in a useless state until you can install an .abt file with the driver we have available below or a serial-to-serial connection. We are attempting to get this corrected in the next driver version, but we would like to provide a solution for this problem now. If you revert to the previous version driver there are no issues. Note: this only applies to adapters with the FTDI chip-set. Download ZIP File Containing Previous Version FTDI Driver Instructions for Installing previous FTDI driver version on Windows XP |
To verify which software version is loaded into your iScan, press the ‘Info’ button on the top of the remote control. A window should pop up with the input and output status. At the top of this window you should see which software version is loaded in your unit (example: iScan VP50 – v1.00).
Click the version of the software you require to go to the download page, and view the release notes. Be sure you select a version appropriate for your model of iScan.

The USB RS-232 Serial Adapter must use the FTDI chipset. The FTDI US232B USB to Serial Adapter is highly recommended, and can be ordered directly from the DVDO website. Alternatively, Anchor Bay recommends the following on-line suppliers:
| Manufacturer | Part Number | Link to Supplier |
| USBGear | USBG-232 | usbgear.com |
| USBGear | USBG-232MM | usbgear.com |
| Saelig | US232B | saelig.com |
| DLPDesign | US232 USB-RS232 Converter | dlpdesign.com |
Other USB to Serial Adapters may also work but they must be based on the FTDI chipset. Some popular brands that are not suitable are Belkin, Keyspan, Prologis and Codi.
