Software Update for the iScan HD

iScan HD 5.6-1.31 Software Release (September 12, 2004)

This software applies to iScan HD models only, and must not be loaded into HD+ units.

1. New Features
   

   Automation Controls(Serial Port)
   The iScan HD now supports automation system controllers through the serial port. The Serial Port baud rate defaults to 19200 bps but can be changed by the user in the Configuration menu. The supported baud rates are

   1200 bps
   4800 bps
   9600 bps
   14400 bps
   19200 bps
   38400 bps
   57600 bps
   

   Please refer to the iScan HD Automation Control documents for more information about using this feature. The documents can be downloaded directly from the Product Manuals page.

   Direct IR Commands
   The iScan HD can also be controlled with direct commands through the IR interface. The documentation for using this feature will be available soon. Please contact DVDO for more information.

   Sync Polarity Control
   The user can set the polarity of HSync and VSync signal for both analog and digital outputs. This control is available in the Sync menu item under Output Setup menu.

   CEA-861B 50Hz Formats
   In the previous version of the software, there's a predefined format for 720p, 1080i and 1080p. These formats have been renamed '720p-60', '1080i-60' and '1080p-60' in the on-screen display. Three new formats labelled '720-50','1080i-50' and '1080p-50' have been added. These formats are compliant with the CEA-861B specification for DVI output when the input is 50Hz.

   In general, you should use the '-60' format if your inputs are 60Hz, and '-50' format if your inputs are 50Hz.

   New Output Aspect Ratio
   A 5:4 output aspect ratio has been added to support 1280x1024 displays.

2. Enhancements
   

   Front Panel Display of Test Patterns
   When test patterns are turned on, the user can navigate through the available patterns using the '1' and '3' buttons on the remote control. The name of the test pattern is now shown momentarily on the Front Panel display.

   Info Screen
   The Info Screen now shows the output type : analog or digital.

   Standard PC resolutions in the EDID table
   The EDID table now has standard PC timings such as VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA. This enables PC's to output these resolutions when connected to the iScan HD's DVI input.

   Default to 60Hz frame rate for 50 Hz inputs
   The iScan HD now defaults to 60Hz output frame rate when the input is 50Hz to accomodate displays that do not accept 50Hz frame rate.

   Sync Timing
   Limited the HSync and VSync timing variations during video source changes to improve compatibility with CRT front projectors (e.g., NEC 6PG).

3. Bug Fixes
   

   Switching between DVI and Analog output
   The iScan HD did not output analog RGB signals if it was first put in DVI output mode, then put in standby mode and powered on. This bug has been fixed.

   Film Mode off in PAL mode
   The iScan HD deinterlacing chip may not work properly in some cases when the input is PAL and Film Mode is turned off. This bug has been fixed.

4. Download
   

   To download the software, click on the button and select Save. This is an ABT file, and may take some time to download.
