Anchor Bay ABT2010 Video Reference Series (VRS) Processing Enables 1080p Upscaling and Video Enhancement In New Yamaha Receivers

Yamaha's RX-Z7 and RX-V3900 Receivers Deliver World Class Video Quality For High Resolution Displays Thanks To VRS Technologies

LOS GATOS, Calif., October 22, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Anchor Bay, a leading supplier of video-processing semiconductors (ASICs) and systems, announced today that its ABT2010 video scaling chip, which features the latest proprietary Video Reference Series (VRS) Precision Video Scaling technology, has been chosen by Yamaha for use in its new RX-Z7 and RX-V3900 AV HDMI 1.3-enabled receivers.

Yamaha's RX-Z7 and RX-V3900 are 7.1 channel networkable AV receivers with a wide range of multimedia features and extensive custom installation capabilities. Among these features are HD Radio, ports for Sirius/XM, support for iTunes Tagging, Internet radio capability, networked-PC streaming, and control through a networked PCs web browser. They also provide surround decoding for all Blu-ray high-resolution audio formats.

Using Anchor Bay technology, both receivers upscale all analog and digital video sources, up to 1080p. The RX-Z7 adds mosquito noise reduction, image enhancement and a dedicated HDMI input on the front panel, for easy connectivity of devices such as, HD camcorders. Both the RX-Z7 and RX-V3900 also feature dual HDMI outputs that allow for video on two separate displays.

The ABT2010 video processing chip features Anchor Bay's Video Reference Series VRS() 10-bit Precision Video Scaling and Precision Deinterlacing, as well as Anchor Bay's patented Progressive Re-Processing PReP, a breakthrough technology that improves poor picture quality caused by other deinterlacers. The chip also provides VRS AutoCUE-C, VRS Precision AV LipSync, and supports HDMI 1.3 with Deep Color and xvYCC colorimetry capabilities, and allows all formats to be passed-through for maximum system design flexibility.

"The advanced capabilities of Anchor Bay's ABT2010 video processing chip gives us the ability to deliver a superior video experience to our AV receiver customers," said (Mr.) Eiji Takeuchi, assistant engineering manager of Yamaha AV receiver products. "The ability to rapidly design in and deploy such a high level of video performance helps us to maintain Yamaha's leadership position in the highly competitive AV receiver category."

"We are very pleased to see our partnership with Yamaha continue to expand," said Doug Fealtman, CEO of Anchor Bay. "The benchmark RX-V3900 and RX-Z7 AV Receivers are cutting edge AV receivers that deserve reference video processing. Our ABT2010 chip was the only logical choice for these products, as its performance and feature set allow Yamaha to clearly differentiate from the competition. We look forward to continuing to work with such a trusted brand and valuable partner."

The receivers are scheduled to ship in October.
